Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout Review

Looking for something to give your workouts a boost? Then, you may be curious about our review of the recently updated Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout. Originally came as capsules but now comes as a powdered drink, with a new ingredient formula that promises to enhance your muscle pumps, energy levels, mental focus, and endurance among others.

This product is made by a company called Sculpt Nation. They are still fairly new to the supplement market when compared to more established companies. In the following sections, we will take a look at an overall strength of the Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout’s formula to see if it can stand up to big names in terms of effectiveness, safety, and value for money.

Let’s start with a brief review summary to get an idea about what you can expect from Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout.

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout Review at a Glance

Pros

  • 3 different flavors
  • Uses a number of proven performance enhancing ingredients
  • L-Tyrosine works to boost focus and mental performance
  • L-Theanine helps with the negative side effects from caffeine

Cons

  • Uses the controversial synthetic sweetener Sucralose
  • Lack of some core ingredients – including vitamins B6 and D3
  • Some key ingredients are underdosed, limiting their effects
  • Caffeine dosage is 300mg – far too much for people who not used to stimulants
  • $37 feels a bit too steep for what is being offered

Summary:

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout’s formula should be mildly effective. If only it contained larger doses of the key ingredients – including Tyrosine, BCAAs, and Betaine. This would make it more likely to deliver on its claims. As for now, Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout will only work for specific types of people, making it a fairly limited pre-workout supplement. For the price, better pre-workouts can easily be found on the market today.

About Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout is a powdered drink that claims to help you combat exhaustion while working out. It consists of amino acids to help your body maintain natural physical and mental energy so you can achieve consistent, long-term progress in your workouts.

The pre-workout claims to help you feel “unstoppable” without the jittery feeling or the reader’s post-workout crash. So far, so good!

In addition to having a highly effective pre-workout formula, Sculpt Nation Pre promises to be an amazingly delicious and fast-acting solution – you don’t need to wait long for it to kick it after consumption.

There is very little mentioning of muscle pumps in terms of Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout benefits. It seems like this pre-workout is more focused on energy and performance, which is not a bad thing necessarily. If it can really nail the benefits it promises, it will be one heck of a pre-workout!

You may ask though, how does it exactly work?

How Does Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout Work?

Essentially, Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout claims to enhance your mental and physical function with the aid of several botanicals, amino acids, and also “nootropics” which are more commonly found in brain supplements.

  1. Diminishes muscle fatigue and enhances muscular endurance in high-rep scenarios
  2. Boosts ATP production in the mitochondria, reducing your downtime between sets
  3. Kickstart the metabolism to utilize energy more efficiently
  4. Increases nitric oxide levels for enhanced blood flow and Human Growth Hormone

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout Ingredients

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout only contains 15 calories per serving, which makes it decent for people who’re cutting weight and count pretty much every calorie they consume!

Here are the ingredients in Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout:

  • L-citrulline – 1.5g
  • Beta-alanine – 1.2g

  • Betaine – 100mg
  • L-tyrosine – 100mg
  • L-theanine – 50mg

As shown on the label:

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout Ingredients

We’re now going to take a closer look at each of the active ingredients in Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout. One thing we’ll say right off the bat is that we don’t like that Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout doesn’t show us the exact dosages of each of the BCAA ingredients – hiding them in the “InstAminos” proprietary blend.

The good news is, the rest of the ingredients in Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout are completely transparent, so we know what we are working with.

See for yourself.

BCAAs (L-leucine, L-isoleucine, L-valine) – 3g

BCAAs are the three amino acids that make up at least one-third of all the amino acids in your body. They are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAAs can help increase strength and may be useful for athletes to maintain muscle mass while on a calorie-restricted diet.

The benefits of BCAAs include helping with muscle recovery after exercise, improving performance in high-intensity or endurance exercise and promoting fat loss.

One thing to note is that BCAAs can suppress serotonin levels in the brain, which can negatively affect mood in some people. It can also have an effect on your appetite (lowering it, for better or for worse), since serotonin plays a key role in regulating hunger.

The dosage of 3g per scoop is on the lower end though, so it’s unlikely to have much of a negative effect. Normally, effective BCAA dosages are between 10-20g per serving at least.

L-citrulline – 1.5g

L-Citrulline is a nutrient that is naturally found in the body and helps to convert l-arginine to nitric oxide, which can help with circulation. It also helps with lactic acid production.

L-citrulline benefits those who are looking for a pre-workout supplement because it can help with blood flow and the reduction of lactic acid build-up. L-citrulline is also naturally found in the body, so it isn’t an amino acid that you have to worry about overdosing on.

Beta-alanine – 1.2g

Beta Alanine is an amino acid primarily used in pre-workout supplements. Beta Alanine has been shown to be effective in increasing carnosin levels, which can help delay or prevent muscle breakdown before and after training.

The main drawback of Beta-Alanine is that it can cause a tingling sensation in some people’s skin, also known as paresthesia.

In some cases, the body can also experience a burning sensation. This is usually due to Beta-Alanine being too concentrated in the product, which causes it to cover a wider area of skin when applied.

Beta-Alanine can also have a significant effect on blood pressure and heart rate in some people. This usually only occurs in individuals who have preexisting cardiovascular conditions or who consume a high dose of Beta-Alanine regularly.

In these cases, it is advisable to consult with your doctor before taking Beta-Alanine supplements.

For people who don’t mind beta-alanine’s side effects, the dosage of 1.2g that is in Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout is solid and effective.

Caffeine – 300mg

Caffeine provides an energy boost that makes an individual feel more alert and awake. It also affects performance by increasing one’s ability to concentrate and focus. However, like with anything else, too much caffeine can lead to unpleasant side effects such as increased heart rate, insomnia, tremors, jitters and nausea; therefore it is important to read the label of a pre-workout supplement and see how much caffeine they contain before using them.

In the case of Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout, the caffeine dosage is 300mg per scoop, which is a bit too high for our liking. If you are sensitive to stimulants, this is important to be aware of.

Betaine – 100mg

Betaine is a naturally occurring amino acid that can help to provide the building blocks for muscle cells. Unlike other pre-workout supplements, betaine can be found in relatively cheap and easy-to-find foods such as beets, spinach, and cauliflower.

There are many benefits to betaine use in pre-workout supplements because it can help with muscle fatigue and recovery. It also provides a variety of other benefits such as improving cognitive function. The biggest benefit of betaine is that its effect will not stop after a single workout session, which means there will be no need for athletes to constantly take it.

The dosage of 100mg is a little on the low side, though. The best pre-workouts tend to use 500-1000mg per serving, which has been shown to be the optimally effective dosage.

L-tyrosine – 100mg

There is a lot of research on the benefits of Tyrosine in pre-workout supplements.

One study found that Tyrosine can significantly increase mental performance and cognitive function in a variety of laboratory animals. The findings also showed that by giving animals a supplement containing Tyrosine, they were able to do mental tasks more quickly and efficiently then without the supplement.

Another study found that by giving subjects a pre-workout containing Tyrosine, they experienced higher levels of arousal before exercise when compared with subjects who didn’t receive the pre-workout. Subjects also reported feeling more energetic when taking the supplements with Tyrosine before exercise when compared with those who didn’t receive it. All in all, it’s a great choice. There is just one recurring problem here, though. Just like some other ingredients in Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout, L-Tyrosine is underdosed. The optimal dosage is between 500-1000mg.

L-theanine – 50mg

The benefits of L-theanine in pre-workout supplements are to increase the production of nitric oxide which causes vasodilation. The increased nitric oxide levels are associated with improved blood flow, better concentration and focus, and an enhanced sense of well-being.

Customer Reviews

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout reviews are difficult to come by as the product is only officially sold on the manufacturer’s website. Reading others’ “testimonials” is worth taking with a grain of salt anyway. You can never truly tell which reviews are legitimate and which are paid ads. The only true way to tell if a pre-workout is going to work well for you or not is by doing the research for yourself – checking what the evidence says about the ingredients that are in the product in question.

Does Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout Have Side Effects?

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout doesn’t contain anything that strikes us as risky or dangerous. The ingredients are all well-researched and on the lighter side in terms of their dosages. Having said that, you should talk to your doctor if you are concerned that some of the ingredients in the product might have a negative interaction with any medication that you’re taking or cause an adverse allergic reaction.

*You should check with a qualified professional if you aren’t sure whether to take this product or not. Remember, our posts aren’t meant as advice – they’re for informational and entertainment purposes only!

Where to Buy?

Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout is only available on its official website. It costs $37 per tub. That’s not too bad, but it’s definitely steep. The price can also be brought into question when we’re talking about the underdosed ingredients. We aren’t getting optimal amounts of some key ingredients, so it’s worth asking if investing in products that have more optimally dosed formulas is a better option.

The Bottom Line

This brings us to the end of our Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout analysis and review. Obviously, there were a few things that we had to mention about this product that weren’t necessarily glowing compliments. However, there is no point in sugarcoating downsides.

Ultimately, Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout doesn’t seem like a bad pre-workout at all, it’s just the price that bothers us. At this price point, you can easily find more effective pre-workouts with larger ingredient dosages, if your goal is to maximize muscle pumps and energy while training, that is.
