It looks like a decent supplement at first glance. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredient formula to see if the evidence agrees with the manufacturer’s claims.

The good thing about Super Joint Support is that we can see all the ingredient doses on the label – there are no proprietary blends in the product.

The bad news is, Super Joint Support uses quite a few ineffective ingredients when it comes to joint health. At the same time, it is missing some core ingredients that would make the formula more effective at relieving pain and increasing your long-term joint function.

Vitamin D3 (950IU)

Vitamin D3 is a crucial nutrient when it comes to not just joint health, but your overall well-being. This is underlined by the fact that you have a cell receptor for vitamin D in virtually every single cell in your body.

What does vitamin D do? The answer is that vitamin D regulates everything from your mood to bone formation, to hormone production, to inflammation in your arteries. It is an incredibly important vitamin, one that many of us are deficient in, which can lead to poor sleep, irritability, weak bones, and rampant inflammation in the body. Doses of 4000-5000IU per day have shown to be optimal for providing the aforementioned benefits.

Vitamin B12 (250mcg)

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient many of us are familiar with. It is found in fish, meat, and animal organs for the most part. Vitamin B12 plays a role in keeping your red blood cells functioning normally and carrying enough oxygen throughout tissues in your body.

Soil & dirt is full of vitamin B12, and some people claim that eating plant foods can give you enough vitamin B12 to prevent anemia and lack of energy. This is inaccurate because we don’t have the digestive system that can extract B12 from soil and plants efficiently; unlike cows for example. Not only that, but your ability to absorb vitamin B12 decreases as you get older, which makes it even harder to get enough of the nutrient from even animal foods, let alone plant foods.

Magnesium (400mg)

Magnesium is a trace mineral required for numerous enzymatic functions of your body. These include testosterone synthesis, muscle contractions, healthy heartbeat, and sleep hormone regulation to name a few. Lack of magnesium can lead to irritability, depression, insomnia, and a lot more. Many people don’t get enough, so it’s almost always smart to supplement it.

Glucosamine Sulfate (1000mg)

Glucosamine is a nutrient naturally found in the human body. It is an essential building block of cartilage and a key component of joint fluid.

Glucosamine has been used to treat arthritis in adults and children. It has also been suggested as a treatment for people with osteoarthritis, or those at risk for developing osteoarthritis. It is the first ingredient on this list that actually does something for joint health. The ones we’ve explained before were all general health compounds with no substantial effect on joint pain or flexibility.

Marine magnesium with 72 trace minerals (1000mg)

Again, this is a source of magnesium alongside 72 other trace minerals required by your body to perform its basic functions to sustain life and thrive.

Chicken Sternum Cartilage-Collagen Type II (500mg)

This is the first ingredient in Super Joint Support that we do not think is a good inclusion. Collagen type II supplements have a lot of hype behind them, but the evidence shows us they may not work at all. This is due to the fact that when you take collagen orally, it has low bioavailability – a.k.a it doesn’t absorb very well. You would need to take dozens of grams of collagen to maybe experience some slight benefit in terms of rebuilding your joint tissue and cartilage. The minuscule 500mg that is in Super Joint Support won’t do much if anything at all.

Chondroitin (100mg)

Now, this is a great one. Chondroitin is a supplement that has proven to be very effective in healing the joints, cartilage, and bones.

Chondroitin is a type of sulfate that is found in the cartilage of many mammals. It has been used in medicine to treat joint pain, arthritis, osteoarthritis and other common afflictions that cause joints to become stiff. Chondroitin also helps to improve the elasticity of tissues and tissues throughout your body. 

You’ll often see it paired with glucosamine as the two have a synergistic effect on protecting and repairing joint tissues.

Hyaluronic Acid (50mg)

Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient more commonly seen in skin creams. When applied topically, it helps to slightly reduce wrinkles alongside nourishing your skin and improving its elasticity.

The idea behind hyaluronic acid supplements is that they may repair connective tissues from the inside by lowering inflammation, but this is not proven to be the case. For the most part, hyaluronic acid supplements are completely ineffective. Especially at the doses as low as in Super Joint Support.

MSM (250mg)

MSM is a good inclusion in Super Joint Support. It can definitely help you with joint inflammation, arthritis symptoms, and stiffness amongst others.

MSM stands for methylsulfonylmethane, and it is a dietary supplement that is readily available on most health food store shelves. It has been promoted as being a natural organic substance that can provide significant health benefits to the body, including, as we’ve said, helping to alleviate arthritis pain, improve skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea, reducing allergic reactions, enhancing the immune system’s effectiveness in fighting off colds and flu viruses, and lower blood pressure.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (150mg)

Alpha Lipoic Acid is not an ingredient we’ve expected to see in a joint supplement. The reason is simple; while Alpha Lipoic Acid is a powerful antioxidant, it has no substantial effects on joint health per se.

Alpha Lipoic Acid should also be only used under the supervision of a medical professional that is trained in the usage of ALA as a heavy metal chelator. ALA is a thiol, and as such, it binds to toxins like mercury. When you use it improperly, it binds to mercury that is stored in your body (or brain) and redistributes it around instead of delivering the toxin to the liver for excretion. This can result in serious adverse side effects that people often report from unknowingly consuming Alpha Lipoic Acid in an improper way.

In a nutshell: avoid alpha lipoic acid in supplements. It doesn’t do anything for joint health. Even worse, it can be dangerous when taken improperly. DO NOT take it if you have silver (amalgam) tooth fillings. Learn more here.

White Willow Bark Extract (125mg)

WWhite willow bark is an herbal remedy that has been used for centuries to relieve pain. It also works as a natural anti-inflammatory and fever reducer. It is a decent ingredient, but

Vitamin K2 (45mcg)

Vitamin K2 is a nutrient that mainly plays a role in bone health and the coagulation of your blood. It doesn’t do much for joint stiffness or inflammation, specifically.

Our Thoughts on the Ingredients in Living Well Super Joint Support

Living Well Joint Support contains a few decent ingredients that should help you slightly by reducing your joint pain. It may also improve your flexibility to an extent. That said, some of the ingredients are underdosed, while some are completely unproven when it comes to promoting joint function.

Super Joint Support is also missing bromelain, curcumin, ginger, and other important ingredients that would make it far more effective at giving you relief from pain and inflammation.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is another disappointing inclusion. Not only is it ineffective at relieving your joint pain, but it is also actually known to cause a whole slew of adverse side effects (something you’ll rarely hear from “experts”) due to its chelation effect on heavy metals. Taking ALA improperly can redistribute any mercury in your body making your symptoms worse.

All in all, we do not recommend this as one of the best joint formulas around. There are better joint supplements on the market that use proven and safe ingredients, without question.

Living Well Super Joint Support isn’t an overly popular supplement, compared to other joint health formulas it only has a couple hundred reviews, many of which could’ve easily been written by competitors or in-house marketing team to make the product appear worse or better than it is.

That said, Super Joint Support reviews look good for the most part. Many users are happy with the results they got from the product. But there are those who didn’t experience what they expected. Some reported negative side effects such as headaches and nausea (likely to due to Alpha Lipoic Acid).
