Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement Review: Does it Work? (2024)

WellPath Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement Review - Does it Work?

Today we’ll be reviewing the Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement by Wellpath. We’re going to be checking its ingredients to see if it’s effective, safe, and good value for money. Starting with a quick summary!

Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement Review at a Glance

REVIEW SUMMARY:

  • Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement uses a completely natural formula, which is a big thumbs up from us. The ingredients it uses are some of our favorites, including Ashwagandha, Lemon Balm, L-Theanine, and B Vitamins. Unfortunately, the Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement has omitted a few other core ingredients commonly found in the best stress supplements – including L-Tyrosine and Phosphatidylserine. Which makes it a bit less effective than what we expected. It instead uses more sedatives.
  • This will be great for calming some people, but for others, it could prove to be too much and cause excess drowsiness. Another issue is that some Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief ingredients are underdosed – including magnesium and Ashwagandha. It is a fairly cheap supplement though – for the price of about $20, you’re getting a decent range of herbs and nutrients that will calm you down. We do think it’s best to start with just 1 capsule to avoid getting too sleepy (especially if taking during the day).

Produced by WellPath, the Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement has been designed with one goal in mind – to help you better deal with daily challenges. If you’re feeling anxious, restless, or overwhelmed by the daily stressors, this herbal formula might be worth looking into.

The Zen supplement contains a wide range of ingredients – from adaptogenic plants to minerals like magnesium – that have been shown to help ease tension and chronic inflammation associated with stress.

Although it’s not the most unique formula we’ve seen, the Zen Supplement does miss some of our favorite ingredients for stress – such as L-Tyrosine, which is especially helpful in maintaining peak cognitive function when you’re stressed and anxious.

Along with that, Zen also uses some ingredinets that only have animal or anecdotal evidence behind them, and that haven’t been proven to work for stress in humans.

On the bright side, you get 60 capsules per botttle, and you’re meant to take 2 per day, for a price of around $20, which makes Zen one of the more affordable stress supplements on the market right now.

But how will it work for you? Is it safe to take long-term? Should you consider other alternatives? We share our thoughts below.

How to use Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement

Instructions for using Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement are to take 2 capsules daily with one of your meals. Since there are 60 capsules in each bottle, it’ll be lasting you a full month.

The Ingredients

Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement Ingredients

Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement contains the following ingredients:

  • Vitamin B-1 (as Thiamine HCI) – 12mg
  • Vitamin B-2 (as Riboflavin) – 12 mg
  • Vitamin B-3 (as Niacinamide) – 28 mg
  • Vitamin B-6 (as Pyridoxine HCI) – 8 mg
  • Vitamin B-5 (as D-Calcium Pantothenate) – 16 mg
  • Magnesium (as Magnesium Chelate) – 25 mg
  • Zinc (as Zinc Amino Acid Chelate) – 15 mg
  • Ashwagandha Root Extract – 200 mg
  • Lemon Balm Extract 10:1 – 100 mg
  • Passion Flower Extract – 100 mg
  • Bacopa Monnieri Extract – 100 mg
  • Rhodiola Rosea Extract – 50 mg
  • Hawthorn Leaf & Flower Powder – 50 mg
  • L-Theanine – 50 mg
  • Hops Extract 10:1 – 25 mg
  • Bioperine® – 5 mg

This has some excellent ingredients! B vitamins are essential for energy production, magnesium helps calm the mind, and zinc helps manage the inflammation levels associated with chronic stress. However, a few of the ingredients are underdosed, which means you may not be getting the most out of them. These include Ashwagandha, which is most potent at 600mg or more per day, as well as magnesium (Zen supplement delivers a mere 3% of the required daily amount).

The good news is, you can at least see the doses of the ingredients. This is surprisingly uncommon amongst supplements nowadays – more and more supplements use so-called “proprietary blends,” which hide ingredient doses and prevent you from knowing what you’re paying for.

It’s true that Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief is missing some of our favorite ingredients for stress, like L-Tyrosine. But for the most part, the formula looks good.

See for yourself:

B Vitamins

B vitamins are essential for a healthy body. While they are most commonly known to help maintain the nervous system and metabolism, B vitamins also provide other benefits, including more energy, reducing the risk of heart disease or strokes, and improving immunity.

People who’re at risk of deficiency in B vitamins are typically elderly, and those on strict plant-based diets. If you’re not deficient, then you may not experience additional benefits from supplementation.

Magnesium

The benefits of magnesium are innumerable. It plays a vital role in many biological processes, including DNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and the regulation of muscle and nerve activity. Magnesium is also required for the maintenance of normal bones. Yes, magnesium helps ease stress, too.

Without enough magnesium in your diet, you can experience fatigue, mood swings or depression, coronary heart disease, and more serious problems such as seizures or kidney failure. The issue here is that magnesium is underdosed. Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement only contains 25mg of magnesium, whereas the required daily amount is 400mg or more.

Zinc

Zinc is a mineral that we need to maintain growth and health. It helps you body to make testosterone. Zinc also helps with skin, hair, and nails. In addition, zinc assists in boosting your immune system and preventing infections from common colds or flu.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a herb that is native to India, Nepal and Pakistan. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years to help people manage stress, anxiety, and other health issues.

In studies, symptoms of anxiety and stress get reduced when you take ashwagandha because it contains withanolides – natural compounds that have cortisol-lowering properties. At 200mg per serving, it’s slightly underdosed here.

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm (Melissa Officinalis )is a herb with a long history of medicinal use, particularly as a mild sedative. Greeks and Romans would chew on the leaves of the plant to reduce stress levels and improve mood. It is also thought that the herb was used by ancient Egyptians as a form of sedative. However, although the studies seem to support this notion, there are very few of them,

One study showed that those who drank two cups of tea with Lemon Balm extract experienced a decrease in stress levels. Another study showed Lemon Balm had an equally dramatic effect on people experiencing insomnia, helping them to sleep significantly better than those who didn’t take the supplement.

Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola Rosea, also known as golden root, is a flowering plant that grows in cold climates, like Siberia and other parts of China.

The Rhodiola Rosea extract has been shown to be effective in reducing stress levels and increasing energy levels in animals. Birds treated with the extract were able to overcome the effects of cold weather better than those who were not treated with it.

Rhodiola Rosea is classified as a nootropic supplement or “smart drug.” It’s used to increase mental ability and focus during times of stress.

Bacopa Monnieri

Just like a few other ingredients on this list, Bacopa Monnieri is a herb that has been used in Indian medicine for centuries. It is an adaptogen and can help the brain and body to deal with various stressors.

Although Bacopa might not be the best anti-stress ingredient, it is highly effective for memory, but it needs to be taken for at least 8 weeks for its full effects to show.

Passionflower

Passionflower is a flowering plant with a calming effect on people and can be effective when trying to relieve anxiety and insomnia. It is due to these properties that it started being used as a sleep aid for patients with chronic pain, tension headaches, fatigue, and irritable bowel syndrome.

However, current evidence on Passionflower is mostly anecdotal and comes from animal studies. We don’t know how safe and effective it is when supplemented long-term in humans.

Hawthorn Leaf and Flower Powder

Hawthorn leaf is a plant belonging to the genus Crataegus. They have a long history of medicinal use for their healing properties including anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy.

As good as it may be for respiratory health though, Hawthorn isn’t one of the best ingredients for stress and anxiety.

L-Theanine

L-Theanine is a natural amino acid from black and green tea and some mushrooms. It works by binding to your GABA brain receptors, which promotes sleep and relaxation. L-Theanine also increases alpha wave activity in the brain, which puts you in a meditative-like state.

The dosage in the Zen supplement is just 50mg, whereas the optimal dose is 150mg or higher.

Hops

Hops is a plant that is used in brewing beer. It helps to give the beer its distinctive flavor and also acts as a preservative.

Brewing beer with hops has been used for centuries, but recently it has gained popularity due to its health benefits. Hops contain many flavonoids, which are strong antioxidants. It also contains a chemical called xanthohumol which helps improve blood flow by reducing inflammation in the arteries.

However, hops also contains high levels of phytoestrogens, which may negatively affect male health – leading to gnyecomastia, weight gain, and loss of libido among others.

BioPerine

BioPerine is a trademarked form of black pepper extract that is commonly used for its purported ability to increase the absorption of nutrients in the body. It’s mainly here to help ease the digestion and reduce any potential gastrointestinal side effects of the Zen Supplement.

Customer Reviews

What do Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement reviews and testimonials tell us? You can find many of them on Amazon as well as on websites like Reddit.

Most of the reviews look positive, although you will come across some negative ones here and there. These include reports of side effects such as neausea and sedation during the day, along with reports of lack of effectiveness in the anti-stress department.

Here’s a positive experience from one of the buyers:

“I’ve been using Zen anxiety for a few months now and it has helped me a lot. I have had some issues with high levels of stress that I had no idea how to cope with. This supplement has helped me cope without the use of drugs or therapy, which I’m glad about because it means I don’t have to worry about what kind of side effects they may have on my body.

The best part about this supplement is that it doesn’t make you feel drowsy or tired like most antidepressants do, which means I can take it during the day if needed!”

It’s important to note that everyone is different and so your results may vary. It’s also difficult to tell which testimonials are legit, and which are paid ads. The best way to find out how a product will work for you is by researching its ingredients for yourself. This way you’ll get a complete picture of whether the supplement is science-backed, or just loaded with empty promises.

Does Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement Have Side Effects?

Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement contains several sedatives, which may cause drowsiness and sleepiness in some users. This is particulary important if you’re planning to take this supplement during the day.

However, note that not everyone will get drowsy from this supplement. For some, the sedative effects will be just enough to calm their anxiety without putting them to sleep.

If you’re planning to take this supplement, it’s best to start with the lowest recommended dosage to see how you’ll react to it. Also, try taking it in the evening for the first time, instead of when you’re going to work for example, in order to avoid unwanted consequences!

The Bottom Line

If you suffer from symptoms of stress and anxiety, then a supplement like Zen Anxiety and Stress Relief Supplement could be a good option for you. It contains several herbs and nutrients that may promote a calmer state of being and more relaxed headspace.

It’s missing several ingredients like L-Tyrosine that would make it more effective for reducing stress and restless thoughts, and it also uses some questionable and understudied ingredients like Hops and Passionflower.
