We Analyzed Osteo Bi Flex: Here Are 6 Things You Should Know (2022 UPDATE)

Osteo Bi Flex Review: Does it REALLY Work?

Joint supplements can seem like a dime a dozen; try one and you’ve tried them all. But is there really such a thing as an effective joint supplement (that doesn’t break the bank)?

If you’ve ever used products for joint pain before, chances are you stumbled upon one that doesn’t work. Be it a joint supplement, a cream, or a patch.

Many of these products offer enticing promises, the customer reviews look mostly positive, but when it comes to getting actual results, you may not get quite what you expected.

The truth is, joint supplements are like any other supplement. There is a lot of trash out there. Finding a joint stack that actually works and is effective at reducing pain, improving flexibility, and supporting your long-term joint health can be a tricky task. But not an impossible one.

When it comes to finding an effective supplement (be it for joints or any other aspect of your health), the most important part is the formula. You will need to look closely at the ingredients that are being used, their dosages, and the research behind them.

A good-quality joint stack will have research-backed ingredients, in clinically effective doses, with a 100% transparent label so you see exactly what you’re paying for. Yes, it can be quite a hassle!

Fret not, though, as today we’ve done the legwork for you. We’ve inspected Osteo Bi Flex’s formula to see if it lives up to the hype, and if it’s a good value for money.

Is Osteo Bi Flex really that good for joint pain, flexibility, and strength? Is it all-natural? Is it safe?

To get an idea about what you can expect from Osteo Bi Flex, we will start by sharing a brief summary. Followed by our full, in-depth report.

Osteo Bi Flex Review at a Glance

Pros

  • Generous dosage of glucosamine
  • Contains a high-quality Boswellia serrata extract

Cons

  • Proprietary blends are always a red flag!
  • Glucosamine doses over 500mg are unnecessary and a waste of capsule space
  • Oral collagen isn’t effective due to extremely low absorption
  • Hyaluronic acid is an unproven ingredient
  • Boswellia serrata is included twice on the label – blend stuffing?
  • Uses a lot of filler ingredients – including the controversial titanium dioxide

Key Takeaway

Osteo Bi Flex looks like a decent joint supplement at first glance, but when you look closer, there are some serious issues. The positive is that Osteo Bi Flex contains a high amount of glucosamine dose, which is a good long-term joint health ingredient. However, doses higher than 500mg are unlikely to provide an extra benefit. That capsule space could’ve been used for other proven ingredients.

Unfortunately, most of the formula is hidden under a proprietary blend – not showing individual ingredient doses. For all we know, Osteo Bi Flex’s blend could be 95% collagen, which is pointless when taken orally! Better joint stacks are available on the market for the price in our opinion.

About Osteo Bi Flex

Osteo Bi Flex is a natural dietary supplement, and one of the most popular joint products currently available. Made by a manufacturer of the same name, Osteo Bi-Flex has been on the market for years now. You can find Osteo Bi-Flex in the U.S., where it is being sold by the likes of Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, and increasingly, CVS.

Our readers from the UK, the EU, and Canada might also recognize this joint supplement from internet ads, or from some of the many Osteo Bi Flex reviews, be it from customers or health blogs.

So, what does Osteo Bi Flex do exactly? The manufacturer says Osteo Bi Flex can give you these benefits:

  1. Improve joint mobility
  2. Ease joint pain
  3. Reduce stiffness and flare-ups

Most impressively, Osteo Bi-Flex claims to give you results “within 7 days.” This is really quite an impressive and confident claim. Very few joint stacks can realistically say they work within 7 days. Normally, it takes a month or two (at least) of using a quality joint supplement every day to see significant improvements in joint flexibility and pain.

This boils down to the simple fact that it takes time to reduce systemic inflammation, improve cartilage repair, and strengthen connective tissues among others.

It begs the question; does Osteo Bi-Flex work as marketed? Is it safe and side effect-free? Is Osteo Bi-Flex any good for knee pain? Make sure to read on as we cover all of the important facts in this Osteo Bi Flex review.

Osteo Bi Flex Ingredients List, Information and Facts

At first look, Osteo Bi Flex’s formula doesn’t look bad at all. It contains some of the most researched natural joint supplements available, and the doses in some cases are within optimal ranges. But there are also some issues with the ingredient profile – namely, the proprietary blend. The doses of many important ingredient are hidden, making it difficult to asses their overall effectieness.

We’ll now inspect the ingredients in more detail, explaining how they work and what the current evidence says. Obviously, we have skipped past vitamin C and manganese as they are not really worth going over when talking about joint supplements.

Glucosamine HCl

Glucosamine is an excellent natural joint health compound; it is the main ingredient in many of the best joint stacks on the market, and for a good reason. It is an amino acid and a core building block for many of the proteins which your body uses to make connective tissues. Glucosamine is therefore found naturally in large amounts in the tissues within and around your joints; at least that is the case in people with healthy joints!

Research suggests that glucosamine supplementation strengthens joints and lowers the risk of injury and joint pain.

Osteo Bi Flex contains a large 1500mg dose of Glucosamine HCl. Most of the studies showing good results from Glucosamine supplementation used 500mg daily, so this is a lot more than we need (explained later in the side effects section).

Chondroitin/MSM Complex

As we mentioned, Osteo Bi Flex doesn’t show the exact amounts for many of its ingredients. Instead, you can see a total dose of a proprietary blend of ingredients. This is a red flag for us, as manufacturers tend to only hide specific dosages when they are using mostly cheap and low-quality ingredients.

Needless to say, the ingredients that we will cover below all need to be dosed correctly to have any benefits (if they’re proven to work in the first place). Keep this in mind as we talk about them in detail below!

Joint Shield 5-LOXIN ADVANCED (Boswellia serrata extract)

The Boswellia serrata extract in Osteo Bi Flex comes in a branded, highly potent form. Boswellia is packed with boswellic acids. One of these, AKBA, is shown to reduce the enzyme 5-LOX, which is what destroys your cartilage over time. By blocking the full effectiveness of this enzyme, Boswellia serrata extract can help enhance your cartilage, preventing the gradual age-related wear and tear and keeping your joints healthier.

In several human trials, volunteer’s joint strength improved within 28 days when given 100mg of high-quality extract of Boswellia Serrata per day. The 100mg in Osteo Bi Flex is therefore more than enough to yield significant positive effects.

Chondroitin sulfate

Chondroitin is a molecular complex that sits suffused within your cartilage. It works by attracting water molecules with its potent negative charge. As a result, chondroitin helps lubricate your cartilage along with increasing its ability to absorb impacts and shocks.

The result? Stronger joints and less joint pain over the years. It is a huge disappointment that we can’t see the dose of this ingredient in Osteo Bi-Flex here, as very low doses of Chondroitin don’t have an effect.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring compound in the human body. You will see hyaluronic acid being used in lots of products, from supplements intended to improve joint function to cosmetics promising more youthful skin.

However, very little evidence shows that hyaluronic acid can actually strengthen bones/joints as it is so often said. In fact, there is no strong evidence at all that hyaluronic acid boosts joint mobility, flexibility, or health in any way.

This ingredient could easily make up the most f Osteo Bi Flex’s proprietary blend, which is a really concerning thought as it does nothing for bone health (despite what the ads would want you to think).

MSM

MSM or Methylsulfonylmethane is a nutrient essential for the synthesis of proteins, fluids, and other integral components which make up your joints. We can’t overemphasize the role of MSM in the maintenance of healthy joints and reduction of joint pain. Our body needs MSM to make glucosamine, chondroitin, collagen, and other important proteins in cartilage and synovial fluid.

Unfortunately, Osteo Bi Flex has decided to keep MSM dosage a secret. Low doses aren’t shown to be effective.

Boron

Boron is not the most common joint supplement ingredient you’ll see these days. Boron is not used in every version of Osteo Bi Flex; for example, you will find it in Triple Strength, but not in Triple Strength + Vitamin D.

In any case, the reason boron isn’t a typical joint stack ingredient is that there is very little evidence that it actually improves joint strength, flexibility, or health. Some rat studies show that Boron helps reduce joint pain and connective tissue breakdown, but human evidence is next to nonexistent at the moment. Strontium would have been a far superior choice here!

Collagen

This is an extremely misleading ingredient. Yes, collagen is a core building block of your joints and connective tissues. In fact, it is the main structural protein of your connective tissues – and the most abundant protein in mammals in general. Without collagen, you’d basically fall apart!

So, all of this means that collagen is a good supplement for joint comfort? No, not at all actually!

Collagen supplements are not absorbed by our digestive system. Most orally consumed collagen passes through the body without being utilized. Osteo Bi-Flex could be wasting you a lot of money here depending on how much of the proprietary blend consists of pointless collagen!

Our Commentary on Osteo Bi Flex’s Ingredient Profile

Osteo Bi-Flex’s formula isn’t terrible at all. It is far better than some other joint stacks out there.

But is it the best joint supplement you can buy right now?

Not by a long shot.

To give it credit where credit is due, the supplement does have some good ingredients.

Glucosamine is highly effective at increasing cartilage strength and density, resulting in healthier joints in the long run.

The Boswellia serrata extract found in Osteo Bi Flex is also excellent bone/joint health enhancer. In numerous clinical trials subjects given a potent Boswellia serrata extract (like the one in Osteo Bi Flex) rated their joint pain and joint health as notably bettered.

In some cases, their joint health improved within 7 days (which is where Osteo Bi Flex’s claim about “improvement in 7 days” might be coming from).

However, there are also some major issues with Osteo Bi Flex’s formula.

For beginners, some of its ingredients don’t work at all for joint health.

Collagen is not effective when taken orally; it merely passes through our body undigested, with only tiny amounts being absorbed.

Hyaluronic acid is common in cosmetics, but it is rarely seen in the best joint supplements because of the fact it doesn’t work!

Boron deficiency has never been shown to cause joint pain or fragile bones. Other nutrients, like magnesium and vitamin D3, have been shown to affect joint health and bone strength. Why Osteo Bi Flex uses boron is not clear to us.

As a whole then, Osteo Bi Flex is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it contains good doses of some effective, well-researched ingredients. But on the other, it contains a lot of pointless junk that you’re paying for.

If you want to get the most value for your money, better joint supplements can be found on the market.

Customer Reviews

Osteo Bi Flex reviews can easily be found on websites like Amazon. Reviews are generally positive, with one customer saying they feel less pain in their feet and knees when walking. Another mentioned reduced stiffness in their joints. Meanwhile, there are some users who describe the supplement as a “letdown.”

The U.S.-based company doesn’t have an official Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating. Osteo Bi-Flex capsules also aren’t approved by the FDA. But they are made in FDA-approved facilities.

Does Osteo Bi Flex Have Side Effects?

Some of the most questions you’ll see online being asked about the product include:

Is Osteo Bi Flex safe? Can it lead to side effects? Can Osteo Bi Flex cause kidney stones? Can Osteo Bi Flex cause joint pain? Can Osteo Bi Flex cause weight gain? Can Osteo Bi Flex cause heartburn?

The answer to all of these is probably not.

We don’t think Osteo Bi Flex will cause side effects in the majority of users. The ingredients in the supplement have been all thoroughly researched for their safety in robust human trials. None of the studies reported serious negative effects or risks from using any of the ingredients that are found in Osteo Bi Flex.

What’s more, ingredients in Osteo Bi Flex are all commonly found in other joint stacks (for better or worse!). Joint supplements, especially the very best ones, are not known to cause adverse reactions.

All of this comes with a big caveat that we do not know the individual dosages of some ingredients in Osteo Bi Flex.

The dosage of Glucosamine is also extremely high; a lot more than the standard recommended 300-500mg used in most good-quality joint products.

As such, side effects are always a possibility. If you experience any, discontinue use and seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Where to Buy?

Osteo Bi Flex can be bought on numerous websites online, including Amazon, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Vitamin Shoppe, and more. It is available not only in the USA but also around the world.

There are currently no official coupons or discounts for Osteo Bi Flex. That doesn’t mean that there are never any. Sometimes, such as during Black Friday, Osteo Bi Flex might be available for a discounted price.

Osteo Bi Flex vs Osteo Bi Flex Ease – Which is Better?

As we mentioned early on, you can find different versions of Osteo Bi Flex online and in stores. These include Triple Strength, Triple Strength with Magnesium, Triple Strength with Vitamin D, and Osteo Bi Flex Ease (or simply Joint Health Ease).

After Triple Strength, Ease is the most popular variation of Osteo Bi Flex.

So, what is different between the two versions of the same product – and which is better?

In a nutshell, Osteo Bi Flex Triple Strength contains more ingredients than Osteo Bi Flex Ease, along with using Glucosamine instead of Collagen that is in Ease.

So essentially, Ease is a stripped down Osteo Bi Flex Triple Health Formula. If you’ve read our full Osteo Bi-Flex review above, you’re aware that collagen is not a good substitute to Glucosamine! There are no credible human studies proving that subjects joint function and pain improved after using collagen. It simply doesn’t get absorbed well in our body; instead, you need to synthesize your own from compounds like Glucosamine and MSM!

Conversely, Glucosamine is a proven joint health ingredient; clinical data repeatedly shows that individuals’ joint flexibility and comfort improves within 28 days using a quality Glucosamine product.

While Osteo Bi Flex Ease still has some 5-LOXIN Advanced, the Triple Strength version is in our eyes the superior joint supplement, offering more value for your money.

The Bottom Line

Should you purchase and try Osteo Bi Flex? Is it worth the time and money?

Despite some positive things about the supplement, we believe the answer to that question is a firm “no”.

All things considered, Osteo Bi Flex is a product with too many downsides, mainly the inclusion of proprietary blend and usage of untested, ineffective ingredients.

Proprietary blends are a red flag for us. Manufacturers use them in supplements to hide the fact that they’re stuffing their formula with cheap fillers to lower costs. Keep in mind that the best joint supplement will always show you everything clearly on the label with full transparency; they will never use proprietary blends. Despite this, these products will still sell millions of USD worth of product! In other words, there is absolutely no legitimate reason to use a proprietary blend in a supplement, if you’re honest with your customers.

As for the useless fillers, Osteo Bi Flex contains collagen and hyaluronic acid, neither of which is proven to have any effect on joint pain or function whatsoever when taken orally.

The glucosamine dosage is very high, but there’s no evidence to show more than 500mg is worth risking side effects.

The bottom line is, Osteo Bi Flex is an over-priced joint supplement that under-delivers.

If you really want the best bang for your buck, we recommend doing more research. Better and more transparent supplements for improving joint function, comfort, and mobility can be found elsewhere.
